Safer gambling
Responsible gambling
Gambling should be paid entertainment, not a way to make money or solve a money problem. It is for adults only, and you can lose more than you expect.
Set limits before you start
- Decide a budget you can afford to lose, and a time limit, before you open a casino.
- Use the deposit limits, loss limits and reality checks that the operator offers.
- Do not gamble with money needed for rent, bills, food or debts.
- Remember that crypto prices change, so the real value of a balance can move.
Warning signs
- Chasing losses, or betting more to win back what you lost.
- Gambling for longer or with more money than you planned.
- Borrowing, selling things or hiding gambling from people close to you.
- Feeling anxious, irritable or low when you are not gambling.
Self-exclusion and blocking tools
Many operators offer account closure or self-exclusion on request. Independent blocking software such as Gamban and BetBlocker can block gambling sites on your devices. In Great Britain, GAMSTOP covers operators licensed in Great Britain; it will not necessarily cover offshore operators.
Where to get support
- BeGambleAware: Free information, tools and support (UK).
- GamCare: Support and a helpline for anyone affected by gambling (UK).
- Gambling Therapy: Online support in several languages, for people anywhere in the world.
- Gamblers Anonymous: Peer support groups.
- National Council on Problem Gambling: Information and referral services (US).
If you are in crisis or worried about your safety, contact your local emergency services or a crisis line in your country.
Do not use VPNs or false details to get around a country restriction or a self-exclusion. It can breach the operator’s terms and is not a safe way to gamble.
